Now back to the story

Around 380 million metric tons of plastic are being produced yearly.[1] 8.3 BILLION Metric Tons (9.1 BILLION US Tons) of plastic has been produced since plastic was introduced in the 1950s. Plastic.org.

Calling all Personality Types

You all know I’m about spiritual personality typing in everyday life. But in this instance, I must speak to the collective issue of rethinking travel with the intent to travel consciously. You see, it doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert, extrovert, thinker or feeler, sensor or intuitive. We all have the responsibility to take care of mother nature. It doesn’t matter where you travel or who you travel with. Travel mindfully, with the goal of sustainability, is everyone’s responsibility. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating “plastic-free July” on the road and back home.

10 Ways to Hug Mother Nature For Mindful Travel Applies to all Personalities: Extroverts, Introverts, Feelers, Thinkers, Sensors, and Intuitives.

Why not be part of the solution instead of part of the problem with minimal effort:

  1. Find recycling bins and take your recyclable plastic items with you whenever possible,
  2. Don’t be a litterbug,
  3. Patronize restaurants that source from local farmers, fishers…
  4. Shops vintage as opposed to new, a great way to upcycle,
  5. Eliminate straws and single-use plastic; pack your own recycling bags,
  6. Recycle your brochures with friends,
  7. Clean up after your pet,
  8. Use coral-friendly sunscreen,
  9. Pack soap and shampoo bars instead of using the hotel’s one use plastic shampoo or conditions,
  10. Don’t be an environmental burden, be mindful of wasteful utility and single-use plastics; smell the roses, and don’t pick them!

Treat your travel experiences the same way you’d treat your home, with respect, consideration, and love.

It is estimated that 14,000 tons of sunscreen end up in the oceans each year. And this is not only from those of us who like to swim in the sea.  The sunscreen that you rinse down the drain when you shower can eventually find its way into the ocean. In addition, the convenient aerosol sprays can spread sunscreen particles across the sand. When the tide comes in, these chemicals can get washed out to sea. SustainableTravel International
