10 Ways to Be Less Anxious this Holiday Season offers tips to help you de-stress and keep that high-vibing energy. Is your holiday to-do list overwhelming, and just thinking about it brings feelings of overwhelm? Is your mind swirling with thoughts? You are thinking I should have the tree up, the shopping done, the invitations sent, blah, blah, blah. You have tried to shake your anxiety, yet instead, you have adopted an ugly mood and a frantic pace. Is there an underlying tone in your voice that is anything but pleasant?
This year, why not limit the to-do list? Do you really need to bake 15 varieties of cookies? Have we become so disillusioned that the season of giving has become the season of doing? Do we believe what society says, that we should strive for a perfect holiday? Sorry to break the news, but the perfect holiday doesn’t exist.
So I ask you, are you letting your mile-long to-do list cause you to fixate and become over-anxious and stressed this holiday season? Goal setting is fine, but not at the expense of your well-being. Overdoing and overspending is a trap. It’s about being present, not how many presents!
Let the ten ways to be less anxious this holiday show you how to become more responsive to the richness and magic that each moment brings.

“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach.” – Ebenezer Scrooge, A Christmas Carol
If There is No Joy in it Then Why?
Ok, before the month goes on any further, stop, take a break, and breathe. I have to ask if you’re already feeling stressed; who or why are you doing what you’re doing? Are you doing it for the family? Your parents? A work party? If you don’t love it, then why do it? And what kind of energy does that bring into the season-low vibrational energy? UGH!
Is what I’m saying triggering you? If so, read on…
First, you need to take time to reflect and really figure out what you love and don’t. If the holiday baking, decorating, shopping, or whatever isn’t your thing, then why are you doing it? If someone else insists and loves it, maybe they can host, bake, or shop. You really need to employ your personality superpowers, it shows you what you love and don’t so why not use them to reduce your anxiety instead of fighting yourself? If you’ve forgotten your personality superpowers click here. And please, don’t be afraid to ask others (family, neighbors, or friends) to share in the responsibility. They have innate personality superpowers that you don’t and if they love to do something that’s not your thing, then why not

Here are a Few Tips to Get You’re Happy On
Remember your personality type is entangled in the physical senses so if you’re feeling stressed, exhausted, or overwhelmed you probably have a trait that’s out of balance. Here’s a helpful blog post on the topic. The tips below are intended to help you untangle yourself from the physical senses; the pressures, the fixations, the urges of perfection. If you want to keep your energy positive, then you have to do things for yourself that make you feel good. Hope you find these tips uber useful.
1. Know Your Personality Type
If you don’t understand your personality type and what tasks you can seamlessly perform, go back and read; Know How Awesome Your Personality Type Is – after you’ve read this post, of course. Knock out the tasks you can do easily and move on to the next. This way, you’ll feel good about yourself, as you’ve already accomplished a thing or two.
2. Get off the Internet
We’ve all come to realize the online world is make-believe. So don’t stress. Do the best you can and leave the rest.
3. Take a Day Off.
Come on, and I know you have a ton of paid sick days, and who knows, you may even get sick if you don’t take some “me time.” It’s exactly what you need!
4. Sing and Dance Your Way into the Season
Put on your favorite holiday tunes or Christmas movies to get you into the season. Dance, laugh, and take time to remember as a child how much you looked forward to Christmas Day or another time when you felt absolute joy. Feel into it, and keep it close to you as you go through the season.
5. Do Something for Someone Else
Yes, I know you’re busy, but random acts of kindness increase dopamine levels and your mood. Check. Check.
6. Feeling out of Control, Stop and Breathe
When you take three consecutive deep breaths, it begins to alleviate stress. Easy-peasy, no gym, pills, or booze – just deep breathing to a happier you!
7. Go for a Walk
If the weather permits, go for a walk. Did you know walking can and does curb carbohydrate cravings; chocolate, cookies, and a bevy of holiday treats waiting to tempt you? So take a walk, curb your cravings, and feel better.
8. Be Screen Free
Be screen-free for an entire evening; no phone, computer, or TV. Take this time to curl up with a cup of tea or hot apple cider and grab the book you’ve wanted to read, or open up the crisp pages of a new magazine and savor this quiet time. Yes, after the kids go to bed. And think, no obnoxious pop-up ads to distract you. An extra bonus!
9. Ask for Help
If you’re like me, I don’t ask for help, and then I’m exhausted as I’ve done everything. Remember, people don’t read minds, so ask for what you need.
10. Make Time for Family
So you didn’t bake seven varieties of cookies. What’s important is you took time to be with family—quality time, playing board games, looking at old photos, or enjoying a date night with your hubby/wife. The season is meant for gatherings, joy, and frivolity, something we could all use right now!
It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, it’s who’s around it. – Charlie Brown Christmas
