Or you may be at the beginning to awaken to the quiet whisper inside, urging you to check in with yourself—but the thought of facing your fears, not being good enough, or the possibility of change feels overwhelming. You worry about what what other’s think, you don’t think your smart enough, credentialed…and you feel like your past is something to hide – not embrace as sacred.

A few thoughts on a a mid-year check-up, being checked-out and the power of self-reflection – Nina

What I hope for you is to see the possibilities when you gift yourself with a check-up instead of living life checked-out!
Summer’s Slow Rhythm is The Perfect Time For a Self Check Up
Page one of my book, Unpack Your Personality, begins with why I believe a check-up summer or whenever is a tipping point for those who want to figure themselves out, and show up with their soul’s destiny at the forefront. Here’s what I wrote,
“Most of us never give ourselves a minute to jump off the merry-go-round of life, let alone take time to envision what we truly want. Do you give yourself moments of stillness to plant the seeds for golden opportunities? This simple practice can help you rise above the dense fog of life that traps so many of us.”
These words resonate intimately—because for years, I was caught in that fog. I spent seven years in what I now call my “life tsunami”—a relentless storm of doing, pleasing, and meeting everyone else’s expectations but my own. I ignored my intuition, silenced my needs, and convinced myself that busyness was the same as purpose. The result? A deep, unshakable emptiness and a constant undercurrent of anxiety.
It took a tsunami that rolled upon the shores of my life to finally listen to the wake-up calls my soul had been sending me all along. To break free of the programing. To accept that my life had been a controlled reality. Unfulfilled, empty and meaningless.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping women recognize these signs before the storm hits, because you don’t have to go through it alone, and you don’t have to wait for a life tsunami to gift yourself with a check-up.
I congratulate you for readying this as 95% of the public think they know themselves, while on 15% actually do; according Tasha Eurich.com.
Music Is Important to Me. These Songs That I Wrote, I Wrote for Me. Inadvertently My Songs Are Helping Other People
– Oliver Anthony, Musician, Songwriter
Why Now Is The Perfect Time For a Life Revealing Pause
We see success in others, and yet they too had to perform some type of life review to move themselves forward. In this powerful conversation between Jordan Peterson and musician Oliver Anthony (Chris Lunsford), they explore this very struggle. The ache of feeling lost, the courage it takes to live authentically, and the healing that comes from finally checking in with yourself. Check out the interview here. It’s a must watch.
Oliver Anthony’s music, especially his song Rich Men North of Richmond, resonates with millions because it’s raw, honest, and rooted in the truth. It’s a real example that shows when we dare to live from our core, we not only heal ourselves but inspire others to do the same. Here’s brief excerpt from his now infamous song;
“I’ve been selling my soul working all day
Overtime hours for bullshit pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles away…”
If you see yourself in these words, know this: you’re not alone.
I’ve been there, and so have countless others. And just know, you too, can begin the journey back to yourselves—one honest, gentle step at a time.
What’s Next When Your Check Up Reveals What You Don’t Want
When you begin to realize what you don’t want – questions that bring up your fears: not-enoughness, pleasing, giving your power away, living your life based on another’s narrative… Naming your fears enables you to begin shifting your internal perspectives–the false beliefs that keep you stuck. This awakening helps you to start taking tiny steps, walking a new path. A path of true desires, happiness, fulfillment, legacy, meaning… doing what you love while inadvertently serving others as well.
Here are a few things you can do right now, that actually aren’t about doing as much as they are geared toward imagining and feeling. What I’ve found through my work, is most of us seek freedom so a question to ask yourself– What does freedom look like for you?
- To be free from credit card debut
- Find balance in your work life or maybe a new career that’s more to your liking
- Untangle yourself from relationships that hold you back from your becoming
Now, of course your questions will probably be different these are just examples. But please k now you probably won’t have the answers to your questions right away, and that’s ok. But when you begin questioning things in your life, your soul responds and starts guiding you. This is why I say you need a check-up, so you can listen to the most important voice in your life.
Realize, mid year is a great time to start, but know this is a it’s a continuous practice. A lifelong study, for those who want to evolve and live the purpose you came here to live.
The Importance of a Mid-Year Check Up: A 5 Step Micro Class on Self-Realization
Summer is here. You can’t believe the year is half way over. You begin to think, I’m still in the same place. Stuck. Things still don’t feel right. What’s wrong with me. Or maybe you started an awakening journey imagining new possibilities, but you’re unsure how to begin. That’s perfectly normal—and it’s the first sign you’re waking up.
Here’s a five-step “micro class” on moving from self-awakening to self-connection, through the lens of spiritual personality typing.
Step 1: Spot Your Avoidance Patterns—Through The Lens of Your Personality Type
Your personality type is a wonderful place to recognize patterns that keep you stuck and avoiding things in your life you don’t want to face. Each personality typing has traits (indicators) that help you navigate your life. They are always evolving, but remain steady in their truth so you can count on them to show up the way. Set aside 10 quiet minutes to check in with your unique personality type. What you are looking for are ways that you tend to check-out instead of checking in. Recognize the patterns that may be holding you back. Of course, comment below if you have questions specific to your type:
Sensing Perceivers (SP): (ESTP, ISTP, ESFP, ISFP)
You may check out by overdoing, overcommitting, or chasing new experiences nonstop—rarely pausing to reflect on what you’re actually feeling.
Sensing Judgers (SJ): (ESTJ, ISTJ, ESFJ, ISFJ)
You often step in to do the thankless tasks others avoid. When checked out, you feel resentful, overlooked, or under appreciated, believing your contributions don’t matter.
Intuitive Feelers (NF): (ENFJ, INFJ, ENFP, INFP)
You become emotionally drained; your compassionate, energetic self withdraws. Your quick wit may turn sarcastic or biting—a signal you’re running on empty.
Intuitive Thinkers (NT): (ENTJ, INTJ, ENTP, INTP)
You may become argumentative, cold, or distant—shutting down emotionally and disconnecting from those around you.
Next to your personality type, jot down what other ways you might be avoiding truths you know in your heart exist. These are the thorny, irritating triggers that show up time and time again. Awareness is an important first step to self-realization. Naming your patterns—especially through the lens of your personality—takes them out of the shadows and into the light.
Step 2: Practice a Gentle “Check-Up”
Choose one moment this week when you notice yourself about to “check out.”
Pause.
Place your hand on your heart, take a slow breath, and ask:
- “What am I really feeling right now?”
- “What do I need in this moment?”
Write down your answers, even if they surprise or scare you. This simple pause interrupts autopilot and invites your true self to speak up—no matter your personality type. The catch you have to listen, and tune into your intuition.
Step 3: Reframe Scarcity Into Abundance
Identify one area where you feel you “have to give something up” (money, time, relationships).
- Instead of focusing on loss, write down three things you might gain by letting go.
Example: “If I cancel this membership, I gain more time for walks, creativity, or rest.” - Practice visualizing your life with these new gains for a few minutes each day.
Why this matters:
Shifting from a mindset of lack to one of abundance opens the door to new possibilities and self-worth.
Step 4: Curated Resources for Deeper Work
If you want to go further, explore these resources:
- Book: It’s Not Your Money by Tosha Silver – An eight-week guide to transforming your relationship with abundance.
- Video: “Carl Jung’s Wisdom: Use Wealth Alchemy to Attract Prosperity Today” – Learn how your beliefs about scarcity shape your reality.
- Book: Money, and the Law of Attraction by Esther & Jerry Hicks – Classic teachings on manifesting wealth, health, and happiness.
Step 5: Share Your Check Up Commitment
Choose one insight or action from above and share it with a trusted friend, journal, or even reply to this newsletter. Declare:
“This week, I am checking in with myself by ________.”
This is important because naming your intention out loud increases accountability and signals to your subconscious that you’re ready for change.Remember:transformation doesn’t happen overnight. Every small, honest check-in is a step toward living with more clarity, courage, and joy. You’re not alone—and you don’t have to do this perfectly. You just have to begin.

More About Spiritual Personality Typing™️
My goal is to shift perspectives around MBTI® personality typing—to break free from stereotypes and oversimplifications. Remember, your personality type is sacred. Your persona is just a mask.
It’s my intention that you begin to see your archetype as a sacred tool—an expression of your true self.
Of course, good things in life come to those who do the work. Take responsibility and make personality typing, infused with spiritual understanding, a daily practice. You’ll soon realize that your rational self and your soul self rely on each other to ignite a soulful meaningful life. When you fully embrace this concept, a profound awakening occurs. It moves you closer to your truth, liberating you from a purposeless existence.
You’ll be ready for any occasion, situation, or event—whether it’s travel, relationships, career, passion, or purpose. Ahh, living a meaningful life—isn’t that what we all desire?
