Anna Wintour’s Persona Is The Revisited Star In The Devil Wears Prada 2

Anna Wintour’s persona is the revisited star In The Devil Wears Prada 2 and we are going to look at what happens when authority becomes embodied, and unquestioned in its execution. It exists to direct, shape worlds, and make decisions…without question!

This  is a kind of power that does not linger in possibility, but moves swiftly into action and actualization, organizing people, systems, and outcomes with a laser-like pull, and Anna Wintour’s career has long stood at the center of this stage in the fashion world and beyond. Her presence is not elusive; it is definitive.

Where others interpret culture, she has, for decades, determined its direction—quietly at times, decisively at others, but always with a clarity that leaves little room for ambiguity.

And yet, when power becomes this effective—this refined in its ability to execute—another question begins to take shape beneath it: not whether it works, but whether anything essential is being left behind in the process. This is not a story about dominance, it’s about the shadow side of a commanding persona.

Behind The Sunglasses: Through the Lens of Spiritual Personality Typing℠

Within Spiritual Personality Typing℠, personality is understood not as identity itself, but as the vehicle through which the soul expresses itself through one’s distinctive traits.

It is a sacred self-identity—deeper in its insight, creative in its expression, and revelatory in its unfolding. We must remember, that each type carries both its strengths and its Achilles’ heel—the inferior trait, which does not diminish the individual, but instead serves as the catalyst for self-awareness.

When a trait is ignored, the personality does not necessarily fail. Often, it succeeds—impressively, visibly, even iconically. And yet, success without evolution and integration creates a different kind of imbalance—one that is harder to detect because it is rewarded. (The car scene where Andy Sachs realize that she has become Miranda Preistly, and in that moment her tsunami arises.)

As for Anna Wintour, we see not the chaos of misused power, but the refinement of sustained authority. Yet lurking below is quieter shadow that can accompany it.

Anna Wintour’s Personality Type: ENTJ

To understand her through the lens of the ENTJ is to recognize a personality oriented not only toward vision, but toward execution at scale. ENTJs do not simply see what could be done—they mobilize people and systems to ensure that it is, often with the intention of broader impact and advancement.

They are known for:

  • strategic leadership
  • decisive action
  • structural influence
  • commanding presence

When aligned, this type has the power to build empires of thought, commerce, and culture. But when emotional integration remains secondary to achievement, something more subtle begins to emerge—an over-reliance on control, a reduced tolerance for vulnerability, and a tendency to measure value through output rather than inner alignment.

The Revisited Star: ENTJ Functional Foundation (MBTI)

Dominant: Extraverted Thinking (Te)

Auxiliary: Introverted Intuition (Ni)

Tertiary: Extraverted Sensing (Se)

Inferior / Opposing: Introverted Feeling (Fi)

If extraverted thinking organizes the external world, and introverted intuition guides long-range vision in search of truth, then introverted feeling—the ENTJs inferior trait—introduces a less predictable dimension: inner values, empathy, and a deeply individual sense of meaning that cannot be optimized or systematized.

And for a type built on efficiency and execution, this emotional trait will cause… disruptive.

The Devil Wears Prada A Cultural Mirror

Public imagination has long filtered Anna Wintour through the lens of The Devil Wears Prada, where Meryl Streep delivers a portrayal that is at once controlled, incisive, and unmistakably authoritative.

What deepens the intrigue is that Streep is often associated with an ESTP orientation—a type rooted in immediacy, adaptability, and acute environmental awareness.

And yet, it is precisely the strengths of this trait that allows her to play an ENTJ so convincingly.

At its highest expression, the ESTP reads reality with extraordinary precision—tracking tone, behavior, and subtle shifts in power—while the ENTJ directs reality, shaping those same dynamics toward a defined outcome.

In performance, these two orientations meet in a kind of alchemy: perception translating into controlled order.

What Streep captures is not just authority, but the economy of it—the absence of wasted motion (and emotion), the expectation of competence, and the unspoken understanding that standards are not suggestions, but requirements.

The Repressed Inferior Trait: Introverted Feeling (Fi)

And this is where the deeper layer begins to emerge.

For the ENTJ, Introverted Feeling does not disappear—it simply recedes behind the more dominant drive to achieve, to lead, and to produce measurable results.

But Fi governs something that cannot be delegated or commanded externally:

  • values
  • empathy
  • emotional authenticity
  • inner alignment—the soul expressing through human form

When this dimension is consistently overridden, decisions may remain effective… but gradually lose their relational depth. Others may be understood functionally, but not fully felt.

Vulnerability may be recognized, but not welcomed. And over time, the external world continues to expand—while the internal world fades from life.

When Power Outpaces Emotional Connection

This is the shadow not of failure, but an unconscious aspect of self hidden from one’s reality.

Because when someone operates at the level of influence that Anna Wintour does, the system itself begins to reinforce the very traits that create distance:

  • efficiency is rewarded
  • decisiveness is expected
  • emotional restraint is interpreted as strength

And so the personality refines itself further in that direction—becoming sharper, faster, more effective—while the inferior trait waits, less developed, less expressed, but no less essential.

Unlike more visible collapses of power, this form of imbalance rarely seen, it simply narrows the range of one’s life self-identity and limits life experiences. A life lived from partial truth.

Why This Story Endures

The enduring fascination with both Anna Wintour and The Devil Wears Prada  lies in their ability to reflect a tension that extends far beyond fashion or media. It is the tension that exists between achievement and alignment (inner and outer worlds). Between leading effectively… and living fully.

Research by Tasha Eurich suggests that genuine self-awareness remains rare—not because people lack capability, but because they have learned to prioritize external success over internal understanding.

Spiritual Personality Typing℠ Offers Another Way

If personality is the vehicle, then the question becomes not how far it can go, but whether it remains in relationship to the deeper emotional and spiritual intelligence within. Because shadow, work, when taken in the context of personal growth and self-awareness won’t disrupt success.

It expands it. Overtime. Through experiences.

The shadow work helps individual ask not just what they are building—but why.

With Every Archetype Story

And so, as with every archetypal story, the focus returns inward. In this case when it stays tightly connected to external outcomes:

Efficiency replaces empathy?

Hierarchy replaced harmony?

Achievement overrides alignment?

Control make vulnerability feel unsafe?

What I now know through the experience of my midlife tsunami is this: the opposing trait is not an obstacle. When acknowledged and explored, it becomes a tool for self-expansion. Working with it will not diminish your strengths—it will elevate them. Integration isn’t about losing power; it makes life’s experiences even richer. And dare I say, even more magical in midlife. So don’t miss it!

The process of Spiritual Personality Typing℠  begets something more enduring: a relationship with personality and soul, that is not built on ego or control but on soul-fed, integrated emotional, physical and spiritual understandings alchemizing as one. And from that place, wisdom is born.

I’ve navigated my own midlife tsunami — that overwhelming season when everything you thought defined you starts to wash away, and the world seems to look right past you. But I’ve learned that midlife doesn’t have to mean invisibility, fighting to stay relevant, or feeling marginalized. I created a new way through this powerful chapter with a sacred self-identity paradigm called Spiritual Personality Typing℠— a framework I developed to make sense of my own tsunami that has brought me more joy, soulful self-discovery, and intentional living. Now, I help women design lives that are entirely their own — untethered from society’s expectations and rich with new beginnings, confidence, and freedom.
