Can Couples Who Fight on Vacation Return Home Happy

Can couples who fight on vacation return home happy. What? How? Why? Nina, this makes no sense. Actually, it does, and let me help you gain a new perspective on the art of fighting. Entertaining, lively discussions can be a healthy part of your relationships.

As an ENTP, the Inquisitive traveler, I’ve elevated the idea of fighting into an activity of lively discussions. This is what I speak of here. Please understand, if you have continuous knockdown, drag-out, couple fights, and you’re feeling the hum of negative energy between the two of you, as opposed to the vibration of loving energy, it may be time for couples therapy.

I have to ask, have you already done the work of understanding your traits and your partner’s personality traits? This knowledge provides you with the fundamentals of who you really are and should always be your first step. Understanding your traits and your partner’s traits will bring about extraordinary and magical experiences on the road and will continue upon returning home.

So Can Couples Who Fight on Vacation Return Home Happy

To return home happier, I believe you’ll need to address expectations and perceptions of one another. I know everyone says we should actively manage conflict in relationship disputes. The word conflict, in my opinion, brings heaviness and negativity, and to be honest, I don’t want to manage my partner. OK, maybe managing myself, but even then, that’s a world that indicates control. I’d rather you’d observe and witness yourself and your partner for better outcomes.

What if your personality, your personal reality, could help you see yourself as a being a vessel for an outpouring of love and spirituality? When you enthusiastically welcome your higher self, your personality is eager to support a fulfilling partnership. Relationships that help you grow and become self-aware while cultivating an inexplicable emotional bond and compassion for one another.

Here’s what I know for sure. Conflict and differing opinions are inevitable parts of life in any relationship. Learning how to navigate and resee another’s opinions and emotional tensions is critical to your growth. Without recognizing your partner’s ways, you won’t be able to fully live out your dreams or desires of meaningful, two-gethering.

It’s All About Your Personality Traits

It’s not about figuring out who’s right and who’s wrong. What it’s really about is being aware of your personality traits and then getting to know your partner’s traits. Once you become acutely aware of your traits and harness them to work in alignment with your true Self, you’re on the path of living in daily enlightenment. SPOILER ALERT: living in enlightenment is a moment-by-moment daily practice. Dare I say it’s your life’s purpose? And please, we are human beings. No one lives in enlightenment 24/7. If you meet someone who tells you they do run the other way.

Once you understand you have quirks, issues, and isms, you’ll recognize your partner has the same stuff. We are not to judge; we are meant to realize they have isms to work through for needed soul growth, while we need to do the same. It’s all about soul evolution. WOW, THIS IS HUGE!

What’s All the Fighting About

What matters most is the small stuff. Think of it this way-your tire blows because you ran over a giant nail, similar to when someone breaks trust in a relationship. An obvious situation that can’t be ignored? Or a tiny nail sticks in your tire, and air leaks out over time-just like little fights–the everyday annoyances in your relationship. One day, you walk outside and see your tire is as flat as a pancake. You didn’t recognize the tiny nail in the tire; nonetheless, it went flat. This slow leak approach is how the vast majority of relationships break. Never addressing the small stuff leads to big life disruptions!

Let me repeat this; it’s all about traits. Comprehending those seemingly little negative annoyances (opposite characteristics) is critical to preventing and mending cracks before it’s too late.

Travel Examples Please

To return home happy, you must recognize your traits have a light side–resonating with a love energy vibe: kindness, openness, and compassion. And the other side of the trait has a dark side– bathed in fear, aggression, shaming, blaming, controlling, pleasing… I can tell you that most of us dwell in fear-based traits. Remember, we are human beings and live in a world of duality, so fear is a constant battle on the road to enlightenment. Examples of potential little fights:

You say: “Honey, let’s splurge and go for the gigantic margarita.”

Your Partner said: “No way, they want to charge what? It’s the principle of the thing. I’m not paying for that when I could get two bottles of tequila for the price of a cocktail.”

Your Partner says: “I’ve got us scheduled for a museum tour, a healthy cooking class, lunch, and an hour for a historic walking tour.” Are you ready?

You said: “No, I don’t want to do all of this stuff, and you know I hate to be committed to a schedule. I’m on vacation, for God’s sake.”

You say: “I caved, and we booked the resort we’ve been staying at for the past five years, but I’m putting my foot down. I will not eat all of our meals at the resort every day when there are so many new and interesting places to grab a bite.” If I have to, I’ll go alone!

Your Partner said: “Well, why do you want to change things when we know the food at the resort is excellent.” I love their strawberry summer salad and the freshly brewed ice tea, and you even said they offer a daily course menu, so we don’t always have to order from the menu. I don’t know what the fuss is all about.

Addressing Small but Important Differences is How Couples Who Quarrel on Vacation Return Home Happy

The few incidents I addressed above are ones you may have encountered with your spouse while away. Believe me, there are unending examples. Hopefully, you’re beginning to understand how these little, insidious “mini fights” can lead to unpleasant outcomes.

In each of these situations, one or both of you don’t fully comprehend your personality traits or your spouse’s traits. You’re portraying a personality type that likes to be on the go, want’s to try new things, and doesn’t like schedules or organized adventures. These behaviors may indicate you’re a Harmonious traveler, ENFJ, an Enthusiastic traveler ENFP, or an Inquisitive traveler (ENTP). At the same time, your partner may be a Grounded traveler, ISTJ, or a Dutiful traveler (ESTJ).

Dissecting the Example to Clarify Things

Your Partner says: “I’ve got us scheduled for a museum tour, a healthy cooking class, lunch, and an hour a historical walking tour.” Are you ready?

You said: “No, I don’t want to do all of this stuff, and you know I hate to be committed to a schedule. I’m on vacation, for God’s sake.”

Your partner is super excited about the activities planned for the day, while you’re like no freakin’ way. Why is this? A person who relishes schedules, is organized, and likes to plan typically has a judging trait — it’s a life approach, an attitude if you will. They feel secure in knowing everything is scheduled and actionable. On the other hand, you see scheduling and organizing as an affront to your personal freedom, or it could be that you don’t embrace commitment, big or small, so you’ll feel suffocated.

Instead of arguing about the issue, you take time to discuss the matter, to better understand why it’s even an issue in the first place. Suppose your partner realizes schedules make you feel more secure and suppose you learn over-scheduling makes your spouse think they’re losing their independence. Wouldn’t these newfound perceptions lessen tensions and eventually wash away? Taking this lesson home with you will undoubtedly create a more peaceful relationship.

Real World Example of How to Return Home Happy

Why not pack up these new perspectives right along with the tchotchkes, sunnies, and sunscreen? What if you returned home and let your partner linger over their morning coffee, and you set out on your merry way, keeping to your schedules, returning home to enjoy a lovely luncheon date? I know this isn’t always possible. But if you make time for each other and realize how beautiful the love energy is between you, you’ll make observing, witnessing, and loving communication a habit. Travel happier and being in a happy relationship is all about personality typing with a spiritual understanding.
