The billions upon billions of items of plastic waste choking our oceans, lakes, and rivers and piling up on land is more than unsightly and harmful to plants and wildlife. – Earth Day

Calling All Personality Types
You all know I’m about spiritual personality typing in everyday life. But in this instance, I must speak to the collective issue of rethinking travel with the intent to travel consciously. You see, it doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert, extrovert, thinker or feeler, sensor or intuitive. We all have the responsibility to take care of mother nature. It doesn’t matter where you travel or who you travel with. Travel mindfully, with the goal of sustainability, is everyone’s responsibility. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating “plastic-free July” on the road and back home.
10 Ways to Hug Mother Nature For Mindful Travel Applies to Us All
Regardless of your personality type, I think we can all agree that we’d rather be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. Here’s how to do it with minimal effort:
- Find recycling bins and take your recyclable plastic items with you whenever possible,
- Don’t be a litterbug,
- Patronize restaurants that source from local farmers, fishers…
- Shops vintage as opposed to new, a great way to upcycle,
- Eliminate straws and single-use plastic; pack your own recycling bags,
- Recycle your brochures with friends,
- Clean up after your pet,
- Use coral-friendly sunscreen,
- Pack soap and shampoo bars instead of using the hotel’s one use plastic shampoo or conditions,
- Don’t be an environmental burden, be mindful of wasteful utility and single-use plastics; smell the roses, and don’t pick them!
It is estimated that 14,000 tons of sunscreen end up in the oceans each year. And this is not only from those of us who like to swim in the sea. The sunscreen that you rinse down the drain when you shower can eventually find its way into the ocean. In addition, the convenient aerosol sprays can spread sunscreen particles across the sand. When the tide comes in, these chemicals can get washed out to sea. SustainableTravel International. Treat your travel experiences the same way you’d treat your home, with respect, consideration, and love.

Travel A Tonic for Self-Discovery
In the midst of my tsunami, I birthed a new vision of travel: intentional journeys guided not by reviews or trends but by soul itself. My book, Unpack Your Personality: Let Your Inner Guide Be Your Travel Guide, introduces an evolutionary way of traveling — experiential, meaningful, beyond bucketlists. You discover not just the destination, but the deeper destination within yourself. Travel is no longer an escape. It’s expansion.
My debut book is part memoir (my story of self-discovery through travel), an introduction to Spiritual Personality Typing℠—(an evolutionary personality paradigm a reimagining of Myers-Briggs) through the lens of spiritual alignment—and a personalized travel guidebook… all these roads lead to self-discovery.

About Spiritual Personality Typing
My goal is to shift perspectives around MBTI® personality typing—to break free from stereotypes and oversimplifications. Remember, your personality type is sacred. Your persona is just a mask.
It’s my intention that you begin to see your archetype as a sacred tool—an expression of your true self.
Of course, good things in life come to those who do the work. Take responsibility and make personality typing, infused with spiritual understanding, a daily practice. You’ll soon realize that your rational self and your soul self rely on each other to ignite a soulful meaningful life. When you fully embrace this concept, a profound awakening occurs. It moves you closer to your truth, liberating you from a purposeless existence.
You’ll be ready for any occasion, situation, or event—whether it’s travel, relationships, career, passion, or purpose. Ahh, living a meaningful life—isn’t that what we all desire?
Who Is Nina Zapala?
I published a book and founded Spiritual Personality Typing℠ during what I call my midlife tsunami — a season that shook every illusion and surfaced my deepest truths. Out of loss and upheaval, I awakened to what truly matters: the union of psychology and spirituality, the marriage between soul and self, the path to becoming characteristically authentic.
Old-school typology only tells half the story. Without soul, life becomes lifeless; we bow to ego, chasing material illusions. But with Spiritual Personality Typing, you remember who you truly are, why you came here, and how you are meant to serve. For women 60+, this is not about ‘anti-aging.’ It is about full-on authentic aging — walking courageously, unapologetically yourself, wildly free, while bringing forth your sacred legacy
Here’s what I now know: “Every wrinkle holds a story, every scar a sacred map. When we deny our authentic self, our soul withers; when we embrace her, we bloom into timelessness; unapologetic, authentic.
