Outstanding steps for transformational travel is one of the reasons I’ve been working on a book, Unpack Your Personality: Myers-Briggs® Takes a Spiritual Detour. I can’t wait to share it with you all. Have you ever taken a trip, and something within you awakened? You returned home more aware and somehow different? Even how you approach the mundane things seemed fresh and untried.
Can You Plan Transformation Travel?
As a devotee of Abraham Hicks, I believe when you focus your energy on what you want to attract, no matter where you travel, it finds you. So my answer to the question, can you plan transformation travel getaways, is yes. I’ve listed four tips below to help you take steps to develop a transformational travel plan.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve encountered many transformative experiences. Maybe it’s because I travel to gain a deeper understanding of a place and its people. It’s always been my travel style and has a fiery place in my heart.
Like many of you, I love discovering new food, new artists, and meeting new people. (Ok, introverts might disagree with meeting new people.😏) My heart yearns for connection to people, places, and cultures. I want to see how it all resonates with my soul and the big picture.
During my seven-year tsunami, I experienced relentless, and it seemed like, never-ending challenges. I discovered my soul gently showed me that my life was out of alignment. My experiences, no matter how luxurious or exotic, felt off. Here are a few life lessons that woke me up.
Grenada, Circa 2003
Grenada, one of the Windward Islands in the Caribbean, is an exceptional place. I was there on a business trip scouting the island. I also developed a new marketing campaign and wrote the resort’s brochure. Phew. Busy.
The good news, my sister, was traveling with me, so she insisted I take time to explore and have fun. After two days of client meetings, she finally dragged me out for the island Friday Fish Fest. I went kicking and screaming and wasn’t happy. A personality trigger was the reason for my resistance. It was trying to help me connect to my soul, which speaks through the spiritual mind. I can’t do this if I’m not interacting with people. My soul wants to express this desire using my personality to explore, experience, and connect with people to see what makes them tick.
An Unplanned Yet Outstanding Transformational Travel Moment
We went to the festival, and I had the time of my life. It was wall-to-wall locals enjoying fresh fish and long-standing friendships. They welcomed two obvious outsiders to their communal evening – it was humbling.
All that kicking and screaming was a travel trigger, my soul letting me know I was out of alignment with my personality.
Skytop, Skytop Pennsylvania – Circa 2005
On a business trip to win a new client, I found myself locked in working through a series of meetings with the powers-to-be. I walked into the appointment all button-up, with hints of a New York PR professional, which I am not. I’m Amelia Bedeli. A scattered, non-stop fountain of creativity while also being very direct. The Nina I presented was far from authentic Nina. Funny how the first impression stuck, and the GM never truly understood all that I could bring to the table. When working with him, it was always a struggle. I dismissed my personality and became something I wasn’t, no wonder the GM never really gave me his full support. How could he? I hadn’t given it to myself.
TG, I worked with the Director of Marketing; we had an incredible 12-year business relationship. I was entirely myself, so of course, we had a terrific and very productive working relationship and friendship.
Istanbul, Turkey Circa 2011
I visited Istanbul on a leisure trip – no work, YEAH! Untethered by work and responsibilities made me more aware of what I desired instead of chasing a need. What happened is I found myself doing what I loved. Instead of following the business crowd to a New York-styled restaurant, I opted to eat street food; fresh-squeezed pompagrante juice, homemade pastries, Baklava, and more.
Even though I got chastised for not going to the restaurant later that evening, everyone wondered where I went. When I told them I opted for street food, several people commented, I wish I would have gone with you. The cool thing was I had experienced so many vendors I could share what I learned.
My personality is in full bloom. Excited. Exploring. And Discovering.
I felt fulfilled. And I attracted so many new travel buddies, enjoying these unconventional adventures.
Four Tips to Take these Outstanding Steps for Transformational Travel
1. Free yourself from judgment – I judged the entire idea of a Friday Fish Fest because I was so concerned with work that I didn’t want to have fun. Ridiculous. Having fun is critical to tapping into your authentic self; Are you judging a situation based on old habits? You can’t get to the new by doing the old!
2. Trust your Divine self – When I was in Istanbul, this is exactly what I did, and I had the time of my life. My personality shined bright because I trusted my divine self: Start the day by centering yourself with three deep breaths. Then visualize your day, what kind of food you want to try, do you want to listen to local music or meet an artist, and end the day in reflection.
3. Ask for guidance, and then listen – Geez, I failed this tip horrible on my first visit to Skytop and the relationship was never good because I didn’t listen to my Divine Self; Divine Self, please show me where to go, what to do and help me find the right words.
4. Let Your Inner Guide Be Your Travel Guide – Sometimes, we listen to what others think we should do. For some reason, in Istanbul, I listened to my inner travel guide. It led me to an insanely cool coffee-ground reading and meeting the owner who had just returned from the states and was craving Chick-fil-a. Come on, coolness, on top of coolness, and ideal for me as I love to know why.
During times of reflection, ask your inner guide what they would like to experience, and wait for the answer. Even if it’s bizarre, be open to the opportunities that arise. Journal Prompt
Did You Enjoy Outstanding Steps For Transformational Travel
I hope, Outstanding Steps For Transformational Travel challenges how you look at travel and yourself. I hope you embrace the challenges that lie ahead on the journey to self. Travel triggers, the revelers of the unconsciousness, are the hidden, unconscious aspects of your magnificent, authentic self.
Divine Disrupters ⏤ cause triggers to stimulate awareness. Triggers are a time for you to take action. If you ignore a trigger, there is no forward motion as you took no action. A mind shift takes place if you decide to take action, allowing a new self-truth to emerge. A new life path is mapped (you become a map-maker, the creator of your life), which unleashes a new lease on life – this is my wish for you because now is the time.
As a course changer and a new path maker, I always look for ways to upend the status quo and challenge convention. I believe the magic of travel is in the unknowingness. Unknowingness is what you need to look past what you think you know, shatter irrelevant expectations, and bring your authentic self, your truth, to life.
Make understanding your personality type a priority. It’s the best relationship you can cultivate in this lifetime.
